a friend of mine has used my poem ‘suicide country’ for a photography project. he is really great and a really fine photographer. he shot these photos of me out at my home in Woodstock, country Victoria, the farm i grew up on and write about. this poem is very personal and is one i feel is very important for my work as a poet in writing about rural Australia, so i’m very glad he chose to use it. this poem will open my next collection, the other flesh.
the land shapes you, runs through you as breath.
